Name: Peter H.
Age: 17
In-Game Name: Paramedic
Years Playing L2: 4, 2 years of them have been private servers.
Preferred Language: English
Expirence Being a GM: 2 years - isoGames, plus 10 months Tech Support Staff for isoGames in addition to GM. 2 years on Open Tibia Servers, see below.
Which Server are you applying For: HGM or Normal GM for Kain
I will gladly answer any additional questions.
Additional Info (more added june 2nd)
Languages: English, latin (3rd year).
Lineage 2 Game Master experience: 2 years on isoGames server, when it was at it's peak of about 2000 players online at busiest hours. Before I was an official GM at isogames, I provided technical support through IRC for 10 months.
Other Game Master experience: 2~ years OpenTibia servers. I GM'd for several servers running reversed engineered copies of Tibia servers.
Area's of lineage you are most experienced in:
Events: I planned many. I would do an event as often as possible without boring the players. All of them I would plan through announcements and PM's, announcing an event, answering all questions about it, writing down people who are participating, and actually running and moderating it. I thought of lots of new events, and would always confirm them with my superiors before performing them. I am very obedient in that way. I always take demos of the entire course of the event, to insure everything happened on par with rules, and to assure others if they had doubts.
PvE: as a GM I patrolled most areas where people level, and are most likely to be exploiting, botting ect.
Castle Raiding: As a normal player on the late echokinetics network, I led an alliance that eventually held most castles, and provided extensive leadership to each of my clans and helped out in whichever way I could.
Player help: As a GM, when there were enough on that I could safely delegate my main tasks too, I would stay around the new player areas and answer any questions, provide help, and deter those who wished to scam, harm or trick new players. Also, I was an operator in the IRC channel, where most of the technical problems were taken, I was able to guide them in real time. Finally, I was a forum moderator for the forums, and did much the same duties as I did with IRC and in-game moderation.
Developer Help: I also helped the developers with the implementation of new mobs, areas, and raid bosses. I worked to fine tune the drops, strength, HP levels, quantity ect of monsters and communicated my suggestions and findings to my developer.
---
Ventrillo and working mic/speakers: I have ventrilo. Just yesterday I fell on my headset, and broke it. Tomorrow I will buy a new one if I can get to use my mom's car, if not then I will have them definitely by today or tomorrow
---
Time Zone: -6 GMT, central standard time. (I live in St. Louis, Missouri.)
---
How many hours you will be available each day/week(Approximately): A minimum of about 5 hours a day, and a maximum anywhere from 6-12~ depending on work. Per week, about 50~+ hours.

List the types of events you know the rules to:

1v1 PvP Tournaments
Raiding
Hide and Seek would hide myself in very obscure locations for players to find. Hints would be issued periodically, and the first person to kill me wins. (I drop no items of course, the prize would be traded to the winner
Various Trivia questions

Questions
If a player asks, "Hi, I was wondering if the noblesse system works, and if so, where can I start the quest?" How would you answer? Hello, <playername>. The noblesse system is working, and you can start the quest by talking to Talien, who sits near the stairs to the temple in Aden. You must be level 50 to start it. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask me or another GM.
---
You get a report of a player shooting through walls (exploiting Geo Data), what would you do?
I would respond to the person who reported aforementioned player, telling him I am going to look into it. I would then //hide on and teleport to the suspected player. I would then observe him to see if he is truely exploiting, at this time I will have a demo recording to verify my findings. If he is, I will message the player telling him that he is violating rules by exploiting, and I will tell him the punishment for doing so. (Depending on the network's protocol, if there are warnings, kicks, bans ect...). I will then save the demo to my "guilty" folder.
If he asks why, I will explain to him that it is unfair because it lets you kill things without getting hurt, and that it's unfair to others if you gain anything because they do it with risk.
If he wants to "appeal" himself, I will gladly send the demo to my superiors if they see it fit.
If the first offense warrents a warning, I will write his name down on my pad of paper of those who've received warnings for rule breaking. I will periodically go through my list and observe the players for a while before moving on. This is to make sure they are following the rules still. I remove the players name from my list if I do not see him do anything again after 2 days. It will be added again if someone reports the player again(after my usual procedure). Any person who is reported by 2 or more players will be added to my list, and will be checked throughout the day. Using this method I've caught alot more people than I would have if I had only listened to other players reporting.
If I find the suspected player to not be cheating, I will message the player who reported him and tell him that the suspect is not cheating. Also, I will answer any questions if the player wants to know what is cheating and not. ect...
---
You get a report of players botting, what actions do you take?
I would first message the player who reported the suspect and tell him it is being looked into. If I am in the middle of watching another suspect, I will add him to my list of players that I watch. If I am doing nothing, I would immediately //hide on and teleport to the player. Since he is accused of botting, I would observe him for a short while and look for several tell-tale traits of a botter, recording a demo.
Those traits being: *Movements to the exact same locations, movements exactly X seconds after another, movements that repeat. Immediate response to anything, such as a PvPer attacking, I would momentarily //hide of and //hide on again to see if he automatically responds in anyway. Also, I would spawn a low level monster to again check for an automated response.
If I find enough evidence to support the botting I will (this is what I was taught to do): Msg the bot, see if I get any human response. Then I will msg the bot telling it that is has been caught botting Then I will kick the bot from the server, save the demo, and write his name to my list of "warned" players. This is of course the policy of my old network, and I will gladly adhere to the current policy of your server.
If I do not see any evidence, I will tell the person that reported the player that I have not found sufficient proof that any rule breaking is going on. Also, if the player has any questions about what is considered botting, cheating, or any rules I would gladly answer him.

Are you a friendly person willing to help others? I am very friendly, and there is nothing I like doing more in Lineage than being a helper to the community. I was quite well known for hanging out with many of the players in towns, and having healthly conversation with them. This is as good for me as it is for them to get to know the GM. I also find this helped my very much whenever there were major social, clan, or any conflict between players, they listened too and respect me more, because I get to know most of the players I see (if they want to, of course). For me, helping people is more the most rewarding thing I can get out of this game, and more often than not, it makes everyone else happy too.

What do you think the Primary Role of a GM is?
The primary role is definitely to provide community leadership, and to strengthen the community through social interaction and through the enforcement of network morals. All this in addition to the traditional roles of a GM, testing, developement, justice, and maintenance. The reason I think that a GM must be socialble is this: it greatly helps player's trust of the server, and it helps popularity. For example, you join a good server. However, this server has no GM's online ever. Players tend to get angry when there is no officials online to communicate with them. A GM needs to be a friend of the population, not a dictator. A GM needs to make the community happy.
---
Do you have personality problems that would cause issues in dealing with people ? No.
A player PM's you insulting you and your family calling you hateful names, what do you do? I would do two things. The first thing would be to ignore his comments and not respond, if I respond it means he has affected me since that is his goal. By not responding I make him lose. Second I would take the appropriate action in accordance with server policy to punish the individual, and finally, I would document all occurences leading up to the punishment with Demos and/or screenshots which will then be uploaded to my website to provide documentation of everything I do.
---
Are you able to completely disassociate yourself from former clan mates, and not get involved with any clan issues if you were to be made a GM ?
Yes, I make it a general policy of mine not to join clans if I am a GM on the server. HOWEVER, if any clan issues arise which require my intervention (excessive disturbances for example), I will punish whomever is guilty, regardless of clan or alliance or anything else. I look solely on the deeds a person has done. OF course, I will document everything.
---
A Player pms u asking to pay you real money to buy items / your account. What do you do?
I will say sorry, I do not take bribes. I will document the incident with screenies/demos, and ask if he wants to donate to the server. If so, I will provide him with the correct link in order for him to do so. Only if the player is malicious in his intent will I punish him. If he means to donate or help the server and I misunderstood him then I won't punish him. However, if it's clear he wants to buy the account or not donate I will punish.
---
A family member or close friend PM's you asking you for Items what do you do ? None of my friends or family play L2, and even if they did I would adamantly refuse. I would also of course explain to them why in real life.
---
A player PM's you asking you for items what do you do? I would respond with, "Sorry <player>, but I don't hand out items." IF he does it again I will ignore his messages(but not ignore him ingame, I would just not respond to them when I see them). If he persists through public channels I would mute him for 15 minutes. (or whatever the server's policy is on that sort of thing). Before ignoring him I would make sure he understands that I am not allowed and will not give him anything. I will tell him that I will not respond to anything else he says, but if he really needs something I will respond(I.E. someone is hacking).
A player PM's you telling you they did a quest and did not receive the item, what is your response/action?
I would first check the players inventory to make sure he isn't lieing, next I would check his quest info to make sure that there is no quest in progress. Finally, I would politely tell the player that since there is no way to make sure he really did the quest, I can not give an item. I would document this conversation of course. Next I would attempt to do the quest the player was trying to do to see if the quest indeed does not give the reward. I will forward my findings to the developer/owner. I will inform the player that the quest is indeed broken and I would grant him the reward(with owner's/dev's permission). Finally, I will announce that the quest is not working and to not attempt to do it until it has been fixed. All of my conversations with the player concerning getting the item will be documented.
---
A player PM's you asking for detailed instructions on how to complete a quest and or accomplish an objective in game, what is your response?
Depending on the quest or objective of course. if it is a simple thing like getting a subclass, enchanting something, getting a skill ect I would provide help to the player to accomplish his goal. If he asks about a quest I will give him the person you start the quest at and their location. If the player wants more indepth help I would refer him to a database site or google.
---
You overhear one player using racially derogatory comments towards another player, what do you do?
First, I would message the offender and tell him that what he is saying is derogatory, and is against the rules. Before punishing him I would make %100 sure he understands what he said was wrong. I would then punish him in accordance to network policy. The offenders name would be put on my "watchlist" of players I keep that have been discovered breaking rules. IF I ever see the player break the rule again I would take the next step of punishment. After this is done, I would document all conversations with the offender and I would personally apologise to the person who had been insulted, and I would assure the victim that punishment has been taken.
---
A player PM's you stating they have discovered a bug and begins to describe the bug to you, how do you respond?
I would wait for the explanation to finish. I would go over the explanation of the bug and ask the player about it if I need more information. If the bug is not harmful to the server's operation I would then make sure the bug does indeed exist. Once I see that it exists, I would demo the bug, and send the demo and the bug info to the dev. I would inform the player that reported it that he should not repeat the bug to anyone else, and tell him that it is being worked on. I would then thank him for his help.
---
A player PM's you asking you information on something you don't know about what do you do ?
If it's something pertaining to my job (as a gamemaster), I would tell him I don't know and I would immediately search for the information. I would then respond to the player's question to the best of my ability. If it's some question about something other than lineage2 or gameplay, I would try and answer it to the best of my ability but I would tell him to search google for it if I did not know.
---
If you were to choose yourself as a leader or a follower which would you be? I would be a leader. I am going into the airforce when I go through college and intend to be an officer. This summer I will be attending leadership school at Scott Airforce Base, and a leadership conference at Washington University in St. Louis. I hate sitting back and watching people not succede. I am the type of person that wants everyone to be happy and I achieve these goals through being a leader in life, and on the computer.
---
What does respect and responsability mean to you?
Respect to me in a large trait, without respect there is no trust, without trust there is no responsibility. You need one to have the other. These traits are PARAMOUNT to a person in a leadership position as a GM is in. If a player cannot respect the GM, how can the GM be trusted? Above everything else I do, I try to establish respect and trust with the players, much of this is through normal GM duties, but alot of it is just talking and getting to know the community.
---
Do you believe you have good communication skills with others? Yes, very much so.
I love to talk to people and have conversations. As I was a tech support guy for 10months(plus the 2 years as a GM) on isogames I got used to talking to people and guiding them. I know how to get a point across many different ways, both with metaphorical and literal speech. I use my language skills to help people understand what they do affects others.
If you would like to talk to me some more just drop me a PM, or IM me at my AIM: Zar0s.
Also, I will answer any questions you have.
I am also very flexible with anything that I do, and will learn any task given to me very fast.
Thank you for your time.
Yours respectfully, Peter H.
