levels 1 - 5
--------------------------------
keltirs... lots of keltirs
Starting equipment
squire shirt
squire pants
dagger / knife 5 p atk / 6 m atk v fast
guild club 6 p atk / 5 m atk fast
wear squire stuff
recommend club but at this level no diff really
(or use fists they do almost as much...)
you start off in quarry talk to miner maron (or other dwarf npc girl )
and get map quest
you need to get 5 keltir fangs
once you have the map yaah.. you now have one of the most useful item you
get for a while
go along road killing keltirs and look for elder longtail keltirs
these are the ones you want to hunt
if you're lucky you'll get some armor or a shield
save up till you get 1000a
buy either the club, short sword or short bow
they all do roughly the same damage over time
but bow does it in larger chunks
and is nice if you are in groups
buy cloth gloves boots and cap if you don't have them already
they cheap and somewhat effective
for low levels it is not recommended to group until 5th
also grouping xp is mobs +7% divided into number of levels in party and
shared
thus no xp sponging off higher level chars as they kill high level mobs
but it also allows a large group of chars to kill mobs very quick
if you get any recipes or such keep them... as well as any materials
one of the basic strategies to dwarven combat is
A: you are a slugger you don't kill fast
B: you have the hitpoints to slug for a lot
C: you do massive damage(second only to the orcs)
thus you do best for xp / sp on green mobs with the occasional white
notable each mob when you select will have a colored name in top where mob
hp / mp is shown
red: waay beyond you... attack only in large groups
yellow: very hard solo... medium with a group
white: fair fight bread and butter of groups
green: medium fight slaughterfest for groups
blue: easy fight
Quests:
none really worth doing other than map one... which isn't repeatable
--------------------------------
Lvls 5 - 10
--------------------------------
equipment
weapon basic 800a one... don't spend money on a upgrade not worth it armor
if you have cash get wood set (wood breastplate, gaiters and helm)
should run about 15,000a at most
wood set is BEST armor for low levels it gives decent protection is light
armor
so evasion is up and gives you a +65hp bonus when wearing all three pieces
misc
scroll of escape (purchased in magic shop in south end a MUST HAVE)
map of elmore (always useful)
potion of lesser healing (nice for those close fights)
misc recipes keep two copies of each sell rest to shopkeeper
misc materials keep these they weigh nothing
ideally you should save all materials you have so you get head start on
making a good weapon
recommend finding one of the 120ka weapons to make and save your materials
(short spear, bow of Forest are two common ones to make)
Skills
craft well.. you can make stuff
need recipies and materials
Quests:
Elder filaur: ore and map fragments
take this one and forget about going back to him for a while
this quest only makes good money if you spend lots of time on it
map fragments get turning to a map by one of the priests (1000a each)
ore gets 10a each
(notably quest items weigh nothing)
Mobs to kill
located on east road from north east entrance over the bridge
on a penisula where road goes down are the
elder longtail keltirs
black wolves
in the abandoned coal mine
utuku orcs these are social creatures
kill the grunts or basic ones and stay away from the archers
mobs to beware of goblins
any goblin will make short work of you
do not recommend gobbos except when on quest for lvl 10
--------------------------------
Lvls 10 - 15
--------------------------------
equipment
weapon basic 800a one to start
armor
wood.. you did get the set did you?
consider upgrading
gloves and boots
Misc same as above sell materials if you need cash otherwise only for good
price
Quests:
three good ones
"Fumble tumble," hammer quest started by collector gough in north end
invloves wandering around town for a bit then killing gobbo sub leaders(see
notes in mob section)
(non-repeatable)
Bat / weaver for lvl 11 these two quests you will do multiple times
first time gets you ring of raccoon and firefly which are mdef +11
then 2.4Ka each
you hunt magic weavers and blade or barbed bats
magic weaver is worst of the two they drop one or two quest items
bats drop 1 to 3 of them
you can make heavy cash of these and the mobs are nice to level up on
Skills
(sweep changed to search in retail)
spoil search 2200 sp two skill that go together allow you to get more
'stuff' off mobs
instructions for use
spoil (aggresive spell - 13mp) kill mob, if he turns blue search(3mp)
weapon mastery and armor mastery
get as they increase combat abilities slightly
without a shield in light armor your evasion should be around 50
mobs
coal mine
notable locations gobbo / bat bridge
orcs medium
garum werewolves hard
bats blade medium
barbed hard
magic weaver hard
all passive social
gobbo sub leaders these are very hard
they are aggressive social mobs and they tend to group attack espcially on
gobbo bridge in mine
they are the quest mob for first part of mob kill for frumble tumble
second is blade bats
do gobbo part in a group of three or four
--------------------------------
lvls 15 - 19
--------------------------------
equipment
silversmith hammer or if your lucky cedar staff / dwarven mace
buy a weapon in the 40-50k range that is 17+ patk and can do soulshot
or save up for 120K one
armor
wood or bone piece or bronze
wood is light and gives hp bonus
bone piece or bronze is heavy but costs alot more
bone piece can be made
neither bone piece or bronze gives set bonus
misc
soulshot
this wonderful stuff costs 8a each...
when used with a soulshot capable weapon eg (x2 on dwarven mace)
it does double damage
soulshot burning can go though medium level mobs like hot knife through
butter
get expensive mind you
on x2 it costs two soulshots a use
so buy in even amounts
warning weight sink antidotes
after each trip sell off till you have 10
(they weight 60 each... had almost 5000 worth of them)
(your healing speed goes down to half when you are over half weight)
Quests:
no new ones
of mention gatekeeper and spider one, not really worth doing
Skills
more weapon mastery and armor mastery..
all the skills at lvl 20 cost 36Ksp
save up
mobs
same as before except
gemstone beasts: hard to medium
gobbos now become less of a difficulty
if you feel adventurous go to mithril mines
watch out though most things are social
and skelelton soldiers are aggro socials and come in groups
watch out for opal beasts and bats
on upside skels drop and sweep iron
--------------------------------
lvl 19 at this point you reach a dilemma
--------------------------------
scavenger or artisan
ups to scavenger
you get smegloads of money
level faster
get lots of materials
can get equipment cheap from artisans
downs
can't craft anything other than low level stuff
combat skills really don't improve much
ups to Artisan
you can make anything
you get boom to bust money
you will get smegloads of money if you can get a scavenger material supplier
downs
level slower
material gathering can be a pain
you get lots of ppl asking you to make stuff...
you have recipies up to your eyeballs
--------------------------------
