That`s just wrong . I`m really hoping that there was some MySQL or PHP or w/e bug/problem/error cuz this is just hmm not right .

If so please Kadar fix it and reset all votes and IP`s for today . The server i voted for lost 62 votes and now (picture now) it`s on 409 place.

These stuf were happening a year or two ago to another server where money seemed to be the problem they had to either donate and be in the top 3 or just keep having technical difficulties with hopzone.

I think and i hope that this is just a problem that will be fixed and won`t happen again. Cuz i think that a lot of things have changed since c4 in hopzone and not only .

3. Tell the users on the server you play on to stop spam voting and you will not loose votes.
The only servers that have had votes removed from today are servers where one or two users have spam voted.

No one of them has spam voted (can you define that please i understand it as voting from the same ip - which is wrong and is against the rules). But the picture shows that the 1st server has 20 votes the 2nd 34 , 3rd - 41 , 4th - 43 and so on , so i think that there is an error here somewhere. Loosing votes is one thing , loosing votes is another but , this order is just wrong.

My friend.... spain, brasil, argentina , greece also has those networks, it's called ip pool, but they don't spam the vote by reseting their connection or modem . You are a little late here with that trick ;)

My english is too bad ... but i will write something ... i think i understand too much things in the Internet Scheme ... I am admin in small internet provider company and i will tell you something about duplicate IP's in voting ... I think that i understend more then you Kadar ... i can explain this : We can create network with 1 real IP and 100 local IP ... when local ip's vote for one server they vote with their real ip ... and what we do ? remove voting from one real ip ??? Kadar we play from other pc we are not one person just we have one real ip !!!!!!! Think about that and speak again ... Sorry for my bad english but you thing wrong !!!

What many are not seeing is this is not an action by us against the server, but an action by us against the user. It just happens to affect that servers vote count.

I do not want to mess with ur politics. I do not want to argue ab ur system of voting. It seemed that s.o. like the server and wanted to help me. That doesn't matter right now. But I have one stupid question:

In Bulgaria and some other former communist countries it is wide spread to play from i-net cafe. That means 30-40+ computers connected in lan with a router. In many cases (60-70% of cases) the gate has a real IP. In the other cases the gate is connected through VPN (in small towns) to a i-net provider. So ignoring these with VPN my question is the following:
1. For example u have 10 ppl every night who gather and play l2. They are playing on different computers in the i-net cafe. They vote and ..... since it is only gates' IP ur site ..... read one voice due to the gate.

Isn't it a little annoying?

I want to underline that this is just a question - not arguing or sth vs u and the hopzone.

if it was MAC ... many things and voting and standings and ... so on will be completely different. that is my opinion in fact..

Annoying, yes. But unfortunately it has to be done that way. If not then every IP is able to vote multiple times a day.

In many "former communist countries" it is also not uncommon for an apartment building to share multiple internet connections by lan setups. In Bucharest last year, I saw for myself how many connections are available to a single user. I counted 3 wired and 5 wireless connections available in a small apartment building.
Now I will ask you, how do YOU tell the difference between 10 users in a cafe and one user with 8 connections?
Its not easy.

Every day for almost 4 years I have read vote logs. To a certain extent I can tell what is honest voting and what is not. It gets quite clear when a brand new server gets 150 votes in a day and 90% of those votes are from the same two subnets. (123.123.123.* 456.456.456.*), one after another. I actually got told by one user that he had 1K users on Yahoo and thats where the votes came from. :rolleyes:

MAC can be collected. But it is not easily collected. It would require some "dirty" remote scripting and its not something we want to get into.

I won't say exactly what we collect. It is nothing more than http logs and tcp/ip inspection. Nothing that can't be collected by any other server out there.
While we are on collection methods,...
Free proxies and anonymizers do not hide your info.
Paid proxies hide some, not all info. The same with TOR.
Its almost impossible to be anonymous on the internet.

Innocent would have been a better word for that server admin.
The admin more than likely had no clue this even happened.
It was the user who started the thread (not this one), that spam voted, then came and *****ed because his votes got removed, Then another user of that server jumped in without knowing the facts.

Some have asked about the floating banners that you see. (My opinion, 90% suck)
They are allowed if they do NOT block the function of the site.
I had someone submit a site with a half page floater and you couldn't really do anything until you clicked to get rid of it. :( Server was not accepted.

Now seriously , thanks for the answer and yes it is a little bit suspicious for a new server to have 150 votes after the votes have been reset but it is possible and there probably were some ~20 votes from ADSL conections .
